A critter, a bug, and RENT

First thing I have to mention is that the little critter is out of the house. I was successfully able to capture him behind the stove and herd him towards the door. My cat is still walking around the house looking for it. (We think he is the one who brought it into the house in the first place.) Now, moving on, I saw Rent today!

There were many squeeling fangirls.

It was AMAZING! Yes, my seat sucked and there was a really tall person sitting two rows in front of me whose head blocked out the center stage the entire time, but it was still AMAZING. Now because I live in a world where I never know what is going on unless it's happening inside my head, I did not even realize two original cast members had rejoined for this tour. If you've seen the movie you have also seen them. Anthony Rapp played Mark (the guy with the camera) and Adam Pascal played Roger (the guy who lives with Mark and falls for Mimi). I, however, would fail if I did not mention the rest of the cast, who were also phenomenal. The set, oh my god, the SET! It was gorgeous. I'm always astounded when and entire show can all be performed with one set.

You can't really tell just how nice it was by this picture that was
obviously taken by breaking the rules.*

I highly recommend that you go see it. And read Anthony Rapp's book, it will just make you appreciate it, really all theatre, even more.

I went to see Rent with my Girl Scout troop. (Yes, I know this does not make me the coolest person on the planet.) Afterward, we went to eat dinner at [anonymous restaurant]. Here is why I am not posting their name. In a complete freak lettuce incident, a bug** ended up on a bun. It was very disturbing, especially because I was sitting directly across from the girl it happened to. Our conclusion was that it it somehow got tangled up in the lettuce and only fell out when she went to put ketchup on her burger. I believe that it was no way the restaurant's fault which is why I will not slander them by adding their name.

That was basically all that happened today. Tomorrow will be very uneventful, I promise.

*I was not the one breaking the rules (this time)
**It was dead

I waited 10 minutes too long

Well it looks like I'm already failing at BEDA. 11:50 and I had just finshed watching Yes Man and I logged on to post, but instead I read Hayley's blog and commented. When i was done with that, it was mysteriously 12:10. I'm pretty sure 20 minutes didn't just pass but apparently it did. Anyhow I'm still going to write about my day.

There was a chipmunk in my house, actually, not was, is. We don't know how it happened, just that it did. I almost had it captured but it jumped out of the basket at the last possible second and scurried back into hiding. I'll let you know if it makes another appearance anytime soon.Did you know they chirp like birds?

Something else also happened today, but I don't really want to talk about it yet. All I'm going to say is that divorce sucks and I will share my opinion on that at a later date. I see Rent tomorrow, well actually later today, in 12 hours. I'll be sure to write how that goes. So I guess that's everything, and I really need to get to bed.

Put me in coach, I'm ready to play

So yes, it is April 17, and I know I'm coming in late to the game, but BEDA just looked to good to resist. Hopefully this will get me into the habit of writing, something-anything really, everyday. So recap of my day:

As some people may or may not know, today was the Day of Silence. I don't really know how to explain it, but they give us a little piece of paper to show people to explain why we're not talking. This is what it says:

"Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am particiating in the Day of Silence(DOS), a national youth moment bringing attention to the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by anti-LGBT bullying, name-calling and harassment. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward building awareness and making a commitment to address these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the Silence?"

My entire day at school was spent in silence, which means I really don’t have anything to talk about today school-wise. However, I do have much to say about the after school events that have occurred.

Tonight was the Drama Club, excuse me, “Performing Arts Club”, banquet. A few things happened that were all so awesome I’m still smiling! First, Mr. Baker (a.k.a. the boss man), gave out the goofy awards, the ones that make no sense to the parents but all the kids understand. There were only a few people who were blessed to receive such an award. Mine was “Does she have an off button?”. My trophy for winning this honor is an easy button (the one’s from the Staples commercials), which was pretty cool. However, it was made even better by the fact that Baker walks up to me later and says, “Mamie (his wife, who is actually the heart and soul of our club) wasn’t sure if I should give an easy button to you because she didn’t want to give you the impression that we think you’re easy. But even though it could be misconstrued, I just had to give it to you because you make everything easier.” This made me smile, and giggle inwardly, a lot.

Next Baker announced this award (I can’t remember the name of it at all, but it was named after some guy), which is usually given to a techie (which is what I am) who is awesome and amazing and contributed the most. But this year, Mamie and Baker couldn’t decide who should win, so they gave it to the entire tech crew. But there were five or six people who were specifically mentioned for their contributions, and I was one of them! It’s so weird hearing people praise you for how hard you worked, and I’m not trying to brag, but Baker basically said I was awesome, that I never stopped, and I was by far the most dedicated in my work ethic and wished that everyone approached the job like I did. It was pretty sweet and it just made my day.

But that wasn’t even the best part about the night. A couple weeks ago elections were held for next year’s officers and I ran for treasurer. I really didn’t think I was going to win because I was running against some really awesome people. The winners weren’t announced until tonight at the banquet. I WON!!! It was just such a shock and I was so happy and now I can’t wait for next year because I’ve learned to love this club and the other officers are phenomenal. My best friend won secretary, and I can’t wait to work with the president end his vice because they’re just amazing too.

Now I’ve rambled long enough so I’m just going to wrap this up. Basically tonight has been the happiest night in, well, a long time.
